Full Biography

Dr. Chima Victor Maduka is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. His research explores how immune cell metabolism shapes tissue repair and regeneration, bridging the fields of immunology, biomaterials, and regenerative medicine.

He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, with Distinction) from the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria, and both his Master's and PhD in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology from Michigan State University. Before joining the University of Michigan, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Boulder's BioFrontiers Institute, focusing on biomaterials for cardiac repair.

Dr. Maduka's innovative work has been featured in top journals such as Nature Biomedical Engineering and Advanced Science. His numerous honors include the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Mastercard Foundation Graduate Fellowship.

Beyond academia, Dr. Maduka is passionate about mentorship and community empowerment. He serves on the Advisory Board of You In Bloom.
